For our Institute of Communications and Navigation in Oberpfaffenhofen we are looking for a
Student Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or similar (f/m/x)
Software Development for Optical Satellite Terminals
What to expect:
In recent years, optical satellite links have experienced a tremendous growth in a variety of areas such as wireless data transmission, quantum encryption, or time and frequency transfer. The Optical Communication Terminals Group at the Institute of Communications and Navigation builds novel laser communication terminals for small satellite platforms, requiring a close interplay between electrical, mechanical, optical and software components.
 
Using different programming tools, you will support the development process of embedded software for on-board processors and its subsystems, as well as for ground-based testing and measurement campaigns.
Your tasks include:
  •  Software development for optical communication terminals
  • Testing and system verification of software and hardware components
  • Support in the preparation of measurement campaigns
What we expect from you:
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Knowledge of programming in Python, Matlab and/or C/C++
  • First experience with hardware testing and measurement devices is a plus
  • Working proficiency in English
