Our Institute of Vehicle Concepts in Stuttgart offers a
DLR-DAAD Doctoral Fellowship
Nr. 699: Postdoc Position for Method Development of Sensor Set identification Strategies for Novel Autonomous Vehicle Concepts
What to expect:
A challenge in today's vehicle development is the design of a more fuel-efficient and safer vehicle. Besides replacing conventional drive train components with batteries, electric motors, power electronics, autonomous driving vehicles are seen as the next step to the future of mobility. An important challenge of autonomous vehicle concept development is sensor set definition and position identification, which fulfills the required high safety standards by reasonable costs.
Within the offered postdoc position risk assessment strategies for new autonomous vehicle concepts have to be developed using virtual simulation platforms.
Within the research the safety evaluation of the DLR internal verhicle prototypes, as the DLR U-shift and the DLR UMV Peoplemover, are in the focus. The methodology should allow the direct evaluation of different sensor set definitions by assessing the virtual response on challenging traffic scenarios and weather conditions. The research position is for dedicated international scientists, who have recently finished their doctorate in a related research field.
