What to expect:
As part of the "Quantum gYROscope - QYRO" project work, you will be responsible, as part of a team, for the aspects of development and qualification, e.g. of electrical and electronic assemblies and their testing under laboratory conditions. The "Technology Transfer and Implementation" department is responsible for the technical realisation, verification and validation within the planned project. A particular focus is on the engineering and development aspects in order to transform the payload with low technological maturity (low TRL-4) to medium maturity (medium TRL-7) and validate it by means of a CubeSat mission in space.
In the development and implementation of electrical and electronic systems for applications in projects of the Galileo Competence Centre with a focus on the space segment, you will be responsible for the following tasks:
  • monitoring the implementation of the definition of electrotechnical requirements for the laboratory and test systems, e.g. by formulating interface control documents
  • tendering and selecting suitable industrial partners for carrying out tests
  • carrying out all relevant process steps from definition and coordination to monitoring the implementation of hardware and its interfaces to the on-board software
  • achieving overall compatibility of energy and data interfaces between the developed components and the payload, platform and AIT environments. To this end, requirements must be calculated using suitable tools such as Python, MATLAB or Altium.
  • calculation, selection and integration of sensors for operation
This job offer refers to the job advertisement 93774.
What we expect from you:
  • completed scientific university degree (Master / Diploma Uni) in engineering, e.g. electrical engineering, telecommunication sciences or other study programmes relevant to the job
  • in-depth knowledge of the current state of research, e.g. in the fields of power electronics, microelectronics or co-integration of photonics and microelectronics
  • initial experience in the field of electrical engineering with a focus on the definition, design and development of analogue and digital circuits
  • theoretical knowledge and several years of practical experience in broad areas of analogue and digital electronics and electrics
  • practical experience in prototyping, using e.g. ALTIUM, with subsequent modelling and field testing of single and multilayer printed circuit boards (PCBs)
  • experience in developing and setting up test equipment for our electronic systems in the laboratory and good knowledge of handling laboratory equipment (e.g. power supply, oscilloscope)
  • experience in using software for simulating analogue, digital and mixed electrical circuits, such as Spice (1), AWR or ADS software
  • design of components and systems, such as isolated DC/DC converters
  • experience in writing proposals for public tenders and / or industrial contracts
  • very good command of written and spoken English
  • willingness to travel occasionally, mainly in Germany and Europe
  • Security clearance as well as the willingness to security clearance pursuant to §§ 8 ff. Security Clearance Act (SÜG) is a condition for employment at DLR.
