Research and development of methods for assessing the resilience of maritime energy systems
What to expect:
The DLR Institute for the Protection of Maritime Infrastructures is a leading research and development center specializing in maritime security. Our mission is to enhance the resilience and robustness of maritime socio-technical infrastructures, with a particular focus on energy security as a critical component.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to advance research in innovative energy storage technologies across diverse maritime use cases. This role emphasizes improving infrastructure resilience while addressing the challenges of integrating renewable energy sources.
Your tasks:
  • conduct research and develop advanced methods for modeling maritime energy systems
  • analyze specific use cases to identify and evaluate energy storage solutions
  • collaborate across disciplines with national and international research teams and end-user groups
  • publish and present your findings in leading scientific journals and at industry conferences

What we expect from you:
  • completed scientific university degree (Master / Diploma Uni) in engineering (e.g. in the field of electrical engineering) or other courses of study relevant to the job.
  • knowledge in the development, modeling and simulation of energy systems
  • basic experience in programming for numerical analyses (e.g. MATLAB, Octave, Python or similar)
  • good oral and written communication skills in English
